Dr. Jeong Rae (Ken) Kim's Professional Journey
With nearly three decades of dedicated service to veterinary medicine, Dr. Ken brings a unique blend of Korean expertise and Canadian experience to animal healthcare. Beginning this remarkable journey in 1996 with graduation from veterinary school of Seoul National University in South Korea, Dr. Ken immediately committed to serving others by fulfilling military obligations as a Veterinary Officer from 1996 to 1998.

Driven by a passion for advancing veterinary knowledge, Dr. Ken pursued graduate studies, completing a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2002. In 2007, Dr. Ken embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to Calgary, Canada, with a vision of bringing exceptional veterinary care to Canadian communities. After successfully obtaining Canadian veterinary licensure in 2008, Dr. Ken began building a reputation for compassionate and skilled animal care.

The entrepreneurial spirit led Dr. Ken moved to Vancouver, where from 2011 to 2021, he owned and operated Urban Animal Hospital, establishing a trusted practice known for its comprehensive care and dedication to both pets and their families. During this decade, Dr. Ken became deeply rooted in the Canadian veterinary community, understanding the unique needs of Canadian pet owners.

Now, returning to Calgary in 2025, Dr. Ken brings this wealth of international experience and decade of Canadian practice ownership to establish Killarney Animal Hospital. This homecoming represents not just a return to where the Canadian journey began, but a commitment to serving the Calgary community with the wisdom gained from nearly 30 years of veterinary excellence across two continents.
